ILGA (International Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans & Intersex Association), the world’s largest and oldest LGBTI association, will be hosting its 27th bi-annual World Conference from October 27th- 31st this year in Mexico City. The Conference will include over 500 delegates from nations around the world including local activists, directors of international nongovernmental organizations, world-renowned academics and UN representatives.
We would like to reach out to your organization to join our global conversation through social media collaboration. The theme of the conference “Decolonizing Our Bodies” is meant to encourage reflection about the multiple intersections of oppression and highlight means of healing and empowerment.
Below are a few examples of ways that we hope to promote this conversation while simultaneously highlighting the work of activist organizations and amplifying the voice of activists around the world.
Social Media Collaboration:
1. Conference Promotion
We are asking our partner organizations to promote information about the World Conference by posting links to our webpage on Facebook and Twitter (or through other social media platforms), and by helping us to promote our Facebook and Twitter platforms.
2. Global Conversation
What does our theme “Decolonizing Our Bodies,” mean to you? We are asking activists to upload a picture of themselves with their response to their social media networks and to encourage their networks to post their own photos.
3. Amplifying Voices
Additionally we would like to highlight the work of activist organizations and offer solidarity through movement building. If there is anything your organization would like to promote about work that it’s currently doing, advancements that have been made or development projects like regional conferences, please share this information with us and we will gladly promote it within our social media networks!
